School Responsibilities: At WBO, we will:
Create a safe, welcoming and positive learning environment for students, families and staff.
Provide resources that support families to maximize student attendance.
Engage families in the planning, review, and implementation of the school’s policies.
Provide opportunities for parents/guardians to participate in decisions about the education of their child.
Assist students in the development of self-advocacy skills.
Ensure that all certified and classified Title I staff are highly qualified.
Provide individual academic growth data to families throughout the school year.
Collaborate with students to set academic, social and civic goals along with action steps to complete these goals.
Regularly communicate with families and students regarding student progress.
Speak kindly about and to students, parents/guardians and other staff members in the building.
Explicitly teach and embed digital citizenship into the curriculum.
Parent and Family Responsibilities:
Engage in daily, positive conversations with their child about school, including their social and emotional well-being.
My child will be punctual and attend school consistently to promote maximum academic achievement.
Encourage their child to appropriately advocate for themselves and others.
Support a safe school environment by regularly reviewing expectations outlined in the Student/Family Handbook.
Be an active participant in the school community by attending conferences, family nights, and other school events.
Be an active participant in their child’s learning by creating a communication bridge between themselves, the classroom teachers, and their child.
Read with their child, or encourage them to read independently, outside of the school day.
Be active in supporting their child in working towards reaching academic, social and civic goals.
Regularly communicate with their child and the school regarding their child’s progress.
Be aware and active in monitoring social media, cell phones and online activity with their child to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
Student Responsibilities:
I will do my best to arrive at school with a positive mindset and contribute to creating a safe and kind school environment by following school rules and expectations.
I will arrive at school on time and ready to learn with all of my materials.
I will take ownership of the success and safety of my school by understanding the expectations in the Student/Family Handbook.
I will identify and ask for help when needed and be accountable for my actions and their impact on others.
I will share school-related information to my parents/guardians and make sure important information is given to them in a timely manner.
I will read independently, or with family, outside of the school day.
I will respect the shared spaces of our school and our personal space within them.
I will set and work towards personal and academic goals that will allow for academic, social and civic success.
I will discuss my learning and progress with my family and my teachers.
I will speak kindly and respectfully to and about other students and staff members in school and on social media when affiliated with school.
I will be respectful, responsible, safe and kind when using social media, cell phones or any online forum.
